Hello I'm Alex

By Alexander William

Hi, I'm Alexander — a developer and builder who gets genuine satisfaction from turning ideas into real products. This blog is where I share what I'm building, what's working, what's broken, and everything in between.

How It Started

There was no grand vision. No master plan. I started by building things — mobile apps, web apps, random experiments. Anything that let me learn faster and ship faster. Over time, I realized the process is what hooked me:

  • Figuring things out
  • Testing ideas quickly
  • Improving the small details
  • Watching something go from nothing to actually usable That's what kept me going.

What I Do Now

I work across whatever stack gets the job done:

  • Mobile: Android (Kotlin), iOS (Swift), React Native / Expo, Flutter
  • Web: Next.js, Tailwind, modern frontend tooling
  • Backend: Convex, Firebase, Supabase, serverless setups I'm not married to any stack. I pick tools based on speed and practicality — because shipping beats perfection every time.

What I'm Building

Most of my focus is on consumer apps with real-world utility. Spliteroo A bill-splitting app built around simplicity and OCR-based scanning. The goal is dead simple: remove the friction when splitting expenses with friends. Finance Apps I'm exploring personal finance tools — budgeting, expense tracking, goal systems — trying to strike a balance between simplicity, usefulness, and retention. Still iterating heavily here.

What I Actually Care About

I don't just like writing code. I care about:

  • Product thinking — why people actually use something
  • Growth — how they discover it
  • Monetization — how it sustains itself
  • UX details — the small things that make an app feel good I'm especially interested in SEO & content-driven growth, short-form content (TikTok / Reels), and building for a global audience rather than just local markets.

How I Work

Ship fast. Test quickly. Iterate on real feedback. Most things I build don't work. That's the point. Every failed attempt gives clarity — and clarity compounds.

Why This Blog Exists

This is my "build in public" space. I'll share what I'm building, experiments in growth and monetization, lessons from failures, and the technical tradeoffs behind my decisions. Some posts will be technical. Some product-focused. Some will just be raw thoughts.

What's Next

Right now I'm focused on improving retention and growth for my apps, experimenting with content and distribution, and exploring new product ideas. Long term, I want to build products that people actually use, generate sustainable income, and scale beyond just me. If you're building something too, feel free to reach out. We're probably wrestling with the same problems. — Alexander
